Composer: Rodrigo Ruiz
Soprano: Grace Davidson
Piano: George Herbert

The duo, Davidson and Herbert, conjure up a suitably unsettling atmosphere true to the spirit of Ruiz's music. These are beautiful musical performances.

Tenebrae
Conductor: Nigel Short
Organ: George Herbert; Richard Gowers

That it’s exquisitely sung by Nigel Short’s Tenebrae could reasonably be taken for granted, but they’re in exceptional form here, conveying a conviction that, even in the fearful unknown, there is hope.

November 2023
The Choir of St John's College, Cambridge
Conductors: Andrew Nethsingha, George Herbert
Organ: George Herbert, James Anderson-Besant, Joseph Wicks

The singing is uniformly excellent and the range of material from the 15th century “Nowel, nowel. Owt of your slepe” to the contemporary setting of “O virgo virginum” … gives a pleasing mix without anything sounding jarringly out of place.

The Choir of St John's College, Cambridge
Conductor: Andrew Nethsingha
Organ: George Herbert

George Herbert, winner of the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition 2023, skilfully negotiates the virtuosic complexities of some of the organ accompaniments, dazzles in two movements from Iain Farrington's 'Fiesta!' and contributes two further solo pieces

Magnificat 3
March 2023
The Choir of St John's College, Cambridge
Conductor: Andrew Nethsingha
Organ: George Herbert

This ongoing series has not only been a beautifully prepared and sung tribute to the Anglican canticle tradition, but also to Andrew Nethsingha’s brilliant leadership of music at St John’s

The Choir of St John's College, Cambridge
Conductor: Andrew Nethsingha
Organ: George Herbert, Glen Dempsey, James Anderson-Besant

Nethsingha knows what he wants from choir, microphones – and organist: there are no dramatic contrasts or solo-stop gimmicks here, just that air-cushion of sound and the St John’s speciality of coupling changes in chant together via the celestial thread of a single organ note.
Andrew Mellor, Gramophone
